New Gold Falcon Chosen!

Unto the the people of Calontir and the Known World, especially the heralds, Greetings from Dorcas Gold Falcon.  I hope this message finds you well.

After interviewing three (!) candidates, Their Calon Majesties have selected HL Konstantia Kaloethina to be the next Calontir Principal Herald.  Her promotion from Purple Falcon to Gold Falcon will take place at Crown Tournament.
To everyone who applied or considered applying for the office, please accept my heartfelt thanks.  I consider it a good sign that so many heralds want to serve the kingdom in this way.
I look forward to working with Konstantia and I know that everyone will support her as she takes on this new level of responsibility.  Congratulations!

Auctions to support Lilies Fireworks

I have been asked to be in charge of raising the funds to pay for the fireworks at Lillie’s this year. I would like to start off by thanking all of those gentles that donated at Kris Kinder. I have decided that to complete the fund raising I will be hosting several auctions in the near future.

Many of these auctions will be live auctions at events and there will be one online auction that I will host through a Facebook page that I will build and moderate for the sole purpose of this auction. I will send out a message when that site is up and running with its URL. It will be a public site and I will have the auction rules spelled out to avoid any confusion. I know not everyone is on Facebook, but we have people from out of kingdom that want to be involved as well and Facebook is the easiest way to host this auction.

The first auction will be held at Chieftains in Three Rivers. The time is yet to be solidified but listen to the heralds at the event. There will be a couple of Items available in this first auction. I will have a throwing ax donated by HL Cai Douglas, and a chest donated by HL Avraham bin David. The final item of the day will be a German hat donated by HL Katherine Die Heilige (Kat). Kat has said if this hat sells for over $ 250.00 she will include a custom German dress or Waffenrock for the winner. I expect that the bid will make it to that magic number as I have already had individuals show interest in pushing the bid.

If you have questions about the auction and you think others will have the same question ask here on the list and I will answer them. I will also answer privately if you ask privately. Please consider joining in on the fun and bidding on an item or two so this year we can have the best fireworks that Lillie’s War has ever had.

The Falcon Banner has a new email address for submitting news items. The address is:

submission@falconbanner.com

Any news items you send to this address will be seen by whichever editor is on duty. They will then reformat and post it to the various outlets.

Please post to this address even if you have posted on Facebook, Google+ or the Calonlist. as not all the editors can monitor all those sources regularly.

Advance heralds’ notice for Crown Tournament

Good gentles all,
 This message is going out on multiple message boards, and I apologize to those who receive it more than once.
 In just over a month- 37 days to be precise- Calontir will be holding its Spring Crown Tournament in the Shire of Wyvern Cliffe.  And while there are several notable events happening between now and then, i.e. Gulf Wars and Kingdom Arts & Sciences, the Crown Tournament should also be on everyone’s mind, as this is indeed the tournament which ensures the continuation of the Falcon Throne.  Thus, to facilitate the tournament’s smooth operation, we will need list heralds!
In the coming weeks, I would ask that any herald who can attend Spring Crown(or, for that matter, any Calontiri with a strong voice) consider volunteering at the list table when March 29th comes around.  I know most, if not all of us, are busy with event prep for Gulf and or Kingdom A&S, but if you are considering volunteering, please contact me offlist and I will gladly accept your help.  If you won’t know for sure until the event, then come find me at the table alongside the list field on the 29th.  I will be bringing Oreos for my helpers!
I would ask that regional heralds please forward this message to their respective groups.

Auditions for SCA Movie

What: At a recreational medieval fighting event, a young, new fighter must choose between the code of honor among knights and his last opportunity to stand out for the girl he loves.

When: Production will begin mid-March, Auditions will be scheduled two weeks prior.

We Will Be Casting:

We will be casting two main roles and three minor roles.

The first role is part of the main “bad guy”, but he is not necessarily so, a big, imposing kind-of guy. He is an experienced knight and fighter, a bit on the older side, but a major threat on the field.

The second role is the part of the main character. This character is a rather new fighter, still pretty green and moderately vulnerable, but he is determined and eager to prove himself. He appears to be in the age range of 20-25-ish.

The minor roles that we are casting for are as follows: two fighters and a herald.

Invasion! A Spring Fling and Bardic Bedlam Event

Friday May 2, 2014 at 5pm until Sunday May 4, 2014 at 12pm

Site: Cass County Fairgrounds…

Directions: Take your best route to I-80 in Omaha and exit at Hwy 50, proceed south about 15 miles then turn left (east) onto Hwy 1 and travel 2 miles, site is on right off of 144th St. There will be signs.
Alternate directions: Take your best route to Hwy 75 south from Omaha or North from Nebraska City to Route 1, turn west onto Hwy 1 and travel about 10 miles, site will be on your left, accessed from 144th St, there will be signs.

Adult member-$10.00 (plus $5 if non member) Youth (Age 6-18)-$5.00 | Children (5 and under)-Free

The Falcon Banner is seeking reporters, editors

The Falcon Banner only works if the news gets into it. Eventually we will have a streamlined way to submit items but, for now, please send your items to Mistress Kateryn de Devlyn at nickieandme@gmail.com. We especially need event reports, with pictures.

The Banner also needs editors. The model for The Falcon Banner is based on The East Kingdom Gazette which has multiple editors who rotate the daily duty of receiving, editing, and posting the news items submitted. This keeps the duty from being too onerous for any one person. We also need editors to specialize in various areas of interest to write and or solicit articles. If you are interested in helping out, also contact Mistress Kateryn.
