Society Feast Survey

Howdy!

The Sternfeld Feast Cooks are looking for ways to make feasts better, and we thought it would be best to start with finding out what people want!  If you could spare a few minutes to take our survey, it will be a huge help.  And if you have a few more moments, please forward this information to other lists you’re on!  We’re trying to get as many responses as possible, from as many areas of the Society as possible, and will be sharing the results with any cooks who are interested.

Many thanks!  Yours in service and having fun!

Wulfwen atte Belle

Kingdom of the Middle

Hey you!  Yes, you!  Would you be willing to help out with something?  The feast cooks of Sternfeld have created a survey about feasts and they are trying to get as wide a distribution as possible.  Their goal is to find out what people want, and then share that information with as many feast cooks as possible.  To that end, they’ve published the survey online at http://www.midrealm.org/sternfeld/feast.php

They’d greatly appreciate it if you’d go fill out the survey – it will only take 10-20 minutes of your time, and it will help make feasts in the Society more enjoyable for everyone!  Also, please feel free to share this survey link on any relevant Society -related email lists you belong to.  They are looking for responses from throughout the Known World, from people of all backgrounds and experience levels.

Again, that link is:

Thanks in advance for your support!

Device and badge submissions can now be colored with color printer or color copier

Unto all who may read this message, Greetings from Dorcas Gold Falcon. I hope this message finds you well

In the beginning of August, I announced a trial of accepting electronically colored submissions of devices in addition to those colored with Crayola markers. Brigida Saker has reported that in the months since that announcement, there have only been a couple of items that weren’t acceptable.

Since the trial has been a success, the Saker office will permanently accept electronically colored device and badge submissions. However, Saker still has the flexibility to return items that are difficult to read, mis-colored, don’t upload to OSCAR accurately, or have other problems caused by the fact that they came from a color printer or copier. Of course, Saker will continue to accept submissions that are hand colored, using Crayola “Classic” markers, or their equivalent. Saker will still NOT accept forms colored with crayons, colored pencil, or paint.

As a side note, the required number of copies of a badge or device form changed last fall. A complete submission must include 1 color and 1 uncolored line drawing copies, plus 1 copy of supporting documentation.

I hope this “technology upgrade” makes it easier to create your heraldic submissions.

Dorcas, Gold Falcon

Calontir Google Calendar

Greetings from Sofya,

I have updated the unofficial Google Calontir calendar today, as is my usual monthly habit.

I’ve started adding links to event webpages and full addresses – at least for events coming up in the next month or two that have made such information easily available.

The address is really helpful since the address on the Google calendar will automatically connect to Google Maps on a smartphone. (Let me know if an address is going to the wrong place. It took awhile to get the Lilies address to work right.)

At your service,

Sofya

Birdhouse project for Lilies site

The Park has requested our assistance in building 150 bird houses and feeders. These must be built to plan, and unpainted ( Sorry, no heraldic birdhouses )

The numbers needed are as follows:

Barn Owl Box – 1 to 2
Bird Feeders – 10
Bluebird Box – 75
Rabbit Traps – 1 to 2 of each style (2 styles)
Squirrel Dens – 10
Wren Box – 10
Wren/Chickadee style – 10
Bat Houses – 3-5 of each style (4 styles)
Kestrel Box – 10
Wood Duck Box 5

Plans are online at:

http://mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/outdoor-recreation/woodworking

They do not want anything painted for a number of reasons, raw wood, preferred is cedar.

Please choose a house that is at the top of your skill level to leave easier ones for the beginners.

I love the idea of the kids doing some, and as it turns out, the blue bird is a very easy one and we need 75!

Please notify Lothar if you are planning to build one or more of these.
