Duchess Aislinn Morcroft Invited Into the Order of the Laurel

At Lilies, the Dread Mistress Eleanor begged a boon of Their Majesties to elevate HG Aislinn Morcroft to the Order of the Laurel.

Since Their time is short, TRH Agamemnon & Gwen will be completing the elevation at Feast of Eagles, July 26, in Shire of Cúm an Iolair.
Her Grace will be sitting vigil at the event, and all are encouraged to visit during the vigil (no, you don’t have to have any sort of award to speak with a person on vigil).

If you are able, please join us for this joyous occasion!

Duchess Phaedra
Chamberlain to TRH Agamemnon & Gwen

Important Message for Those Going to Pennsic

Hi I am your Land Agent, Mistress BelAnna de Rouge de Anjou mostly known as just Bel.

If you pre reg’d you checked a box that said you notified your Land Agent you are going to Pennsic.  Guess what most of you lied…shame shame shame.  Cause I have not heard from you.  I need to know the following information from you.

ARRIVAL DATE  (I need to know when to stay in camp, if you don’t tell me when  you will be there I will be out and about and you will have to wait for me to return)

Mundane name
SCA Name
Tent size including ropes shade fly kitchen shower etc etc etc
who is in your tent (I need this for a tent count only I don’t care who you are camping with)

IF YOU ARE GOING TO PENNSIC AND WANT TO CAMP WITH CALONTIR GUESS WHAT…I STILL NEED ALL THE SAME INFORMATION.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW WHEN YOU GET TO PENNSIC:

Find our camp we a few short blocks to the left of Troll.
Find me or my proxy – DO NOT SETUP YOUR TENT WITHOUT SEEING THE LAND AGENT – we have a grand plan for setup.
Do not leave trash laying around in the Royal Pavilion, Court Yard or in the general area around your or others tents (it will be delivered to your front door if I have a complaint and have to clean it up, I am not your Mom.)
Do not wash your dishes at the water spicket
Do not dump your food, dishwater or other items into the Port a John.  They are for 2 things only and please don’t make me post here what they are supposed to be used for.
Do not use someone else sump hole without asking (they either dug it themselves or paid for someone else to do it.  Dig your own.  Keep the dirt because you will need to fill it in
THERE ARE NO GROUND FIRES – DO NOT DIG A FIRE PIT – ONLY ABOVE GROUND SELF CONTAINED FIRE PITS ALLOWED
When Pennsic is over take all your trash to the dumpster do not leave it on our block, I only have to take it there after you are gone and I won’t be happy about it.
Pennsic ends Noon on Sunday.  If you plan to stay till Sunday you MUST be rolling off site by NOON this doesn’t mean you wait to pack till 11:30 am sunday.  If possible pack Saturday leave sunday early morning.
If you leave your cool stuff lying about I will ransom it back to you or keep it for myself.

I resolve any and all land disputes (within and without Calontir that deal with Calontir)  so be kind to your camp mate cause if I have to get involved I am the only one who wins.

Recently I have been told I am mean.  I write these guidelines well because they have been issues for someone who has attended Pennsic and complained to me to do a better job containing the camp I have been entrusted with. I have been doing this for 14 years for Calontir and additional years prior to moving here.  The complaints come Not just within Calontir itself but from other camps we have been next to.  In general we are a good and kind camp to each other and our block mates, but at times we all over step ourselves.  So with that in mind realize I make these points not to pick on anyone specific but to continue to be the awesome camp we have always been.  Besides I hate it when security makes me account for things others have done and I don’t like acting like your Mom when you mess up.  BUT I do and I will.  So with all this said and if you have read this far and you are going to Pennsic please send me your information.

Bel

Conna Ingen Ui Chearbhaill — Beginners Ball (aka, the Hanne/Conna Ball)

Saturday, June 14, 2 pm, at the Permanent Shelter at Lilies War.

Something fun for first full day of Lilies! The Beginners Ball will get us off on the right foot. We will focus on only eight tunes for this mini-ball that’s perfect for beginners or for those who may be nervous about playing in a ball setting. No worries here! Just lots of laid-back fun! Come play music in a setting that’s stress-free! Contact Conna if you need sheet music.

Conna Ingen Ui Chearbhaill — Pilgrimage at Lilies War!

Wednesday, June 18, 3 pm, beginning near the eastern corner of the Old Battlefield.

Walk the pilgrimage route on the Lilies site while singing or playing a Cantiga de Santa Maria. This year’s Cantiga will be the Miracle of the Dancing Porkchop. Words for singers will be in English this year, to help with ease of participation. Musicians are encouraged to memorize the tune and play as we walk. We will begin the pilgrimage from the eastern corner of the old battlefield (near Fernando’s camp), and we will work our way around Lilies site, ending at the Broken Harp.

Come and be a part of a medieval pilgrimage! Send me a note if you’d like the sheet music.

Johanne of Fishergate — Narrow Wares Competition at Lilies

Greetings all fiber enthusiasts!

On Friday at Lilies, at 9:00 a.m. in the Tailors Tent, there will be a narrow wares competition. A prize will be offered, by the Honorable Lady Johanne of Fisher Gate, in each of three categories.

1) One for cords: this includes lucet, Kumihimo, finger loop braiding, ply-split braiding, sling cords or any other cord you can document to period.

2) One for band weaving: the patterned narrow bands we call inkle, that we do in the SCA, are not documented in period in Europe, though patterned narrow bands were done in other parts of the world. That being said, they are quite beautiful and we make and use them. All types of narrow bands, including inkle, are welcome. This includes simple patterned bands, pick-up patterns, sprang, pebble weaves, ply-split braiding, ribbons or any other narrow band. Kumihimo bands done on a Takadai are included.

3) One for tablet weaving: this includes modern SCA heraldic bands, double face patterns, brocade, Egyptian diagonals (broad diagonals, double turn), Snartemo or any other band you can document to period or that is SCA specific.

Minimal documentation would be appreciated. A handwritten 3″x5″ card with who, what, when, where, how, will do.

Falcon Banner Reporting from Lilies War

We will be reporting very sporadically from Lilies War, as we see cool stuff happen. Expect highlights from Court, occasional photos, and the like. Some photos may or may not be published, depending on the extent of the bribes offered. If we don’t cover something about you, don’t think it is because we have anything against you. It is just that we were too busy having fun doing something else.

May you have an enjoyable War, and may we all meet back here safely when it is over.

Thora Sigurdsdottir — Volunteers needed at A&S table Saturday

Greetings Calontir,

Lilies War is fast approaching. I am need of volunteers to help at the A&S table Saturday – Saturday 9 am-5 pm. I will have 2 hour shifts setup and really would appreciate anyone that can help to let me know. I have a couple of classes that I am teaching and really need someone to man the table. Basically you answer questions like where is a specific tent, and to hand out packets to teachers and take back the completed packets. You can work on your projects while you are there.

Please send me a message as to when you will be able to help out.

Don’t make me beg. It isn’t pretty with this old lady on her knees begging, especially since I can’t get back off the ground.

I hope to see all or as many of you in the A&S area taking classes or teaching.

In Service to a dream,
Mistress Thora Sigurdsdottir

Champagne Players Celebration at Lilies

Good people of Calontir and all welcome visitors to the War of the Lillies! Over the past years, the Champagne Players have delighted to entertain you with our shows.

This year, we have elected to take a break to rejuvenate our creative muses, and we intend to reignite the flame of ridicule anon!

We humbly thank you for your patronage, and invite you to join us in celebration for our efforts on Monday night after dark, at the Permanent Pavilion located at the end of the Long March Road, on the East side of camp. Note: the schedule currently says 3 Rivers Players. Talk about your scene stealing…

We offer drink to quench your thirst, both adult and juvenile (as our humor). If you plan to partake of our adult beverages, please BRING YOUR IDs. A representative will be able to check and mark you with our super-secret glyph so you may continue to partake without hassle. No one shall receive adult beverages without this mark.

We shall have food! Our favorite furniture-depicteur, Martin Vulliet, will have delictable treats for consumption!
We offer gaming tables to test your luck and skill! Have nothing to bet? Lady Coquette of Northshield has graciously made starter bundles of baubles to get you started on your campaign of winning everyone else’s stuff!

We shall also hopefully have music to listen and dance to – drummers, please join us!
Should you have any further questions, please ask me, Lord Logan Munro, aka the guy in charge of waking you with news this week!
