ACCEPS No Longer Approved

http://socsen.sca.org/acceps-no-longer-approved/

The Board of Directors of SCA, Inc. believes that there are better options in terms of electronic payments in the SCA; the corporate office is moving towards an alternative payment service as rapidly as possible. As such, the Board of Directors is discontinuing its relationship with ACCEPS and no longer approves the usage of ACCEPS as of midnight April 18, 2015. As such, I am directing all Kingdom and Local Group Seneschals to follow the decision of the Board, Corporate Treasurer and Society Seneschal to not utilize ACCEPS. If anyone makes the unfortunate mistake of not being in compliance with this directive, the officer in question’s warrant will be immediately suspended.

As for all current ACCEPS related events, these will be allowed to go to completion; however, there will be no time extension in terms of these same events.

Pennsic: Scheduling Activities on the Battlefield

Reposted from the Midrealm Gazette:

From the Pennsic Battlefield Scheduler:

People wishing to use the battlefield/fort/tourney lists for an activity can place a request using the same process as last year – via the Pennsic University Thing process found here:
http://thing.pennsicuniversity.org

Please enter all applicable information to help me sort out the best place to put you in; especially set-up/tear down timesand what area you’d prefer to get. Volume of participants expected can help too. There is a supplementary area for extra info. Deadline for the book is two weeks and I will do my best to schedule all requests submitted by that date.

Questions can be sent to me at:
Pennsic.batsched@gmail.com

I’m not on FB site very often these days so cannot guarantee seeing posts there.

Shakespearean Puppet Competition at Northern Oaken War Maneuvers

Reposted from the SCA Bards email list:

IT’S OFFICIAL!!!!

Crazy Llyw and Lady J, proprietors of the infamous Magic Carpet Kavehane, invite all those fond of creating alter-egos out of inanimate materials to test their mettle against their fellow artisans in the first-ever (to our knowledge) Shakespearean Puppet Competition.

Said sawdust smack-down will happen Friday night of the Northern Oaken War Maneuvers (presented by the Barony of Cleftlands/Shire of Falcon’s Quarry), June 5th, Wellington, Ohio, at O Dark Thirty. Location will be the Magic Carpet  Kavehane.

Rules are as follows

  • Present a song, sonnet or scene from Shakespeare (or the Shakespearean Theater scene?) of no more than six minutes in length.
  • Puppets may be of any non-hazardous material—handmade preferable, commercial also permissible, but consult criteria below. No size limits on puppets, however, those who wish to perform with larger than life size puppets please contact the Impresarios well in advance of your intent.

A 3 ½ foot wide stage with a tasteful backdrop, roughly 4 feet off of the ground will be provided.

Judging Criteria

  • Scope– level of difficulty—including construction of puppets, additional scenery, use of musical instruments, etc. If you choose to utilize a commercial puppet, consideration will made for creative costuming and use.
  • Creativity-choice of literary material, adaptation of content and medium, presentation–style of puppet.
  • Authenticity—recognizing that the will be a need for adaptation and editing in most cases, entry will be judged on how close the performance comes to the style and spirit of the Elizabethan Era.

Grand Prize is still under discussion but will be—grand.

New Kingdom Chronicler Sought

Netted on Facebook:

After almost three years in office it has come time to seek out and train my replacement as Kingdom Chronicler. Applicants should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Publisher. Past experience as a local chronicler is a plus.

This position requires a commitment of at least 20 hours per month in putting The Mews together, making sure that items are submitted in a timely manner,  maintaining Kingdom warrants and making sure that all local newsletters are published. Along with this, the Kingdom Chroniclers are required to submit yearly nominations for the William Blackfox awards to the Society Chronicler. The submission of these nominations are due during the first part of June.

Letters of intent are due by May 31, 2015 to Their Majesties at falcon-crown@calontir.org, Their Highnesses at falcon-heirs@calontir.org and myself at chronicler@calontir.org. Along with your letter, please include a copy of your SCA resume.

Check Your Entry, Friends’ Entries, in the Calontir Order of Precedence

Did you know that there are over 4,000 people listed in the Calontir Order of Precedence? Over 2,000 of those folks have multiple awards. While the keepers of the OP strive for accuracy, with the sheer number of entries over the course of the Kingdom’s existence there are bound to be errors or omissions. Maybe your name has changed or you have moved to another group. We are interested in any information that increases the accuracy of our OP. The link to the OP is: http://op.calontir.org/.

This is my quarterly entreaty to all Gentles of Calontir to check their OP record and report any errors or omissions. Email me at OPClerk@calontir.org with your proposed changes. I strive to make changes within 48 hours of receipt of your email.
